LAKME FASHION WEEK 2017-ANITA DONGRE

Lakme Fashion Week, as the name suggests is organized by Lakme, India’s number one brand for cosmetic and beauty services in India and takes place twice every year. It is jointly promoted by Lakme and IMG Reliance, a global leader in Management and production for Fashion events.

The recent edition of the Lakme Fashion week summer/Resort 2017 Finale was held at the heritage structure of Bandra Fort.

India’s select designers partook in this fashion week to showcase their unique designs to the world.

Anita Dongre is one such designer who was a part of Lakme fashion week and had a great impact on the audience with her unique and beautiful designs. She has taken over the Indian fashion world with her exquisite Indian aesthetics, delicate handwork, and rich craft designs.

She has been at the forefront of the fashion world for over two decades, and has built one of the most successful fashion houses in India called the House of Anita Dongre (formerly AND Designs India Ltd.).

She was the Final designer for the Lakme Fashion week and announced to the closing of this season.

Anita Dongre’s fabulous gold theme summer/resort 2017 collection was titled ‘Alchemy’. The whole collection focused on bringing the liquid gold theme alive through her designs and re-define the word ‘Luxe’. Be it the costumes or the makeup, it was all gold! The Lakme brand later introduced the next generation of

lipstick, known as the Argan oil (Liquid gold); a well-known beauty solution around the world.Dongre’s vision of gold wasn’t an overpoweringly gilded deduction of the theme, but closer in resemblance to the glow emitted from the metal.

The Outfit was a perfect combination of summer and evening wear. The outfit was paired with long capes. Apart from western outfits, she also showcased Indian outfits that included Sarees,

Lehenga- cholis, long-tunics, short dresses for women and sherwanis, kurta-payjama, vest coats and jackets for men. The embroidery work and the embellishment on the outfits made it Eye-catching and has become the talk of the town.

Kareena Kapoor Khan, being the showstopper grabbed a lot of attention. Dressed in a long white dress with golden embroidered shimmery coat called the ‘Empire dress’, she dazzled the runway of the event.

Finally, speaking about the collection, Dongre added, “Our collection is designed in keeping with Lakme‘s theme. There’ll be a glimpse of fluid silhouettes in glazed gold, reflecting the unique flora and fauna of a securely hidden oasis within the sun-kissed, glistening sands of Rajasthan.” The brand’s signature ‘Gota Patti’ work was also featured in the collection. The designs were chalked out keeping in mind the modern mindset of young Indian woman. Dongre altered the setting of the stage by adding a green touch to the environment, with sweet yet simple ideas like hanging glass Votives on trees.
